Flux 4.0 Project Approved for Funding
30.03.2026NewsWe are proud to announce that the project Flux 4.0 – Managing Flows for Sustainable Tourism has been successfully selected for funding under the Public Call for the Promotion of Research and Innovation Programmes (TRL 3–6).
Flux 4.0 brings together 12 partners from industry and academia who will, over the next three years, develop advanced data models, digital twins, geoinformation systems, and artificial intelligence solutions to support sustainable tourism management. Particular emphasis will be placed on understanding tourism flows, reducing the environmental footprint of tourism, strengthening destination resilience, and developing responsible approaches to the use of artificial intelligence.
The project continues the journey that began in 2018 with Tourism 4.0 (TRL 3–6), which laid the foundations for data-driven tourism development in Slovenia and inspired numerous research and innovation initiatives both nationally and internationally.
As part of the project, the Flux 4.0 platform will be developed to integrate diverse data sources, advanced analytical models, and decision-support tools. One of the key outcomes will also be a digital twin for tourism, enabling real-time data monitoring, scenario simulations, and decision support at local, regional, and national levels.
We are proud to be working alongside outstanding partners to co-create solutions that contribute to a more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive tourism sector. Technology is not an end in itself, but a means of creating conditions in which the quality of life of local communities, environmental stewardship, and the long-term resilience of destinations remain at the forefront.
The project officially commenced its activities on 1 June 2026.
