FLUX 4.0 Enters the Implementation Phase with the Consortium Kick-off Meeting
05.06.2026NewsFollowing the successful initial meeting of the project partners, FLUX 4.0 – Managing Flows for Sustainable Tourism reached an important new milestone on 4 June 2026 with the Consortium Kick-off Meeting. The meeting focused on presenting the planned research and development activities, aligning the work packages, and defining the first project tasks.
The project is led by Arctur and brings together eleven partners from business and research: Igea d.o.o., Inova IT, National Institute of Chemistry, Semantika d.o.o., University of Ljubljana – School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana – Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana – Faculty of Computer and Information Science, University of Maribor – Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Maribor – Faculty of Tourism, University of Nova Gorica, and University of Primorska – Faculty of Tourism Studies – Turistica.
Over the next three years, the partners will develop advanced data models, destination digital twins, geoinformation systems, and new approaches to better understand tourism flows, support destination management, and strengthen destination resilience.
During the Kick-off Meeting, partners presented the objectives of the individual work packages, key tasks, milestones, and expected results. Special attention was given to connecting the results of the different work packages into the common FLUX 4.0 platform and aligning data models and indicators.
One of the main goals of the project is to develop the FLUX 4.0 platform and a tourism digital twin prototype. This will support the monitoring, analysis, and forecasting of tourism flows, as well as decision-making at local, regional, and national levels.
Pilot destinations will also play an important role in the project, as the developed solutions will be tested in real environments. The destinations discussed at the meeting included Ljubljana, the Julian Alps, Green Karst, Portorož, the Savinja Valley, Maribor, and Bela Krajina.
With the Kick-off Meeting, FLUX 4.0 has officially entered its implementation phase. In the coming years, the partners will work on practical data-based solutions for more sustainable tourism management.
